Clinton Barr, 84, of New Oxford, beloved husband of Patricia Dawn Barr, died on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at UPMC West Shore.

Born on Sunday, May 16, 1937 in Wheeling, WV, he was a son of the late John Francis Barr and Irene Cecilia Dunn Barr. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Barr; brothers, Irwin Barr, Paul William Barr and John Barr; sisters, Marie Mize, Julia Belle Renshaw, Johnita Walker, Margie McCrosky, Kay Mohas and Rebecca Barr.

Clinton retired from the US Army, after 22 years of service, as a Warrant Officer 3rd class with the Army Combat Engineers. He served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War, was awarded the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and various other commendations. Later, he was employed as a mechanic with R.H. Crawford Trucking for 22 years. Clinton was a former Boy Scout Master with Troop 102 in Hanover and the Veterans Affairs in Martinsburg, WV.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 54 years, are two sons, Jonathan C. Barr and Timothy E. Barr, both of New Oxford; a grandson, Konnor M. Barr of York; three sisters, Madelyne Campbell, Linda Hibbs, both of Wheeling, WV, and Mildred Liming of Follansbee WV; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately.

Clinton’s death was due to COVID-19. The family would like to express the importance of being vaccinated and having booster shots to protect yourself and your loved ones. The Barr’s wish to thank Dr. Katherine Heilman, their family doctor, for all her care she provided over the years, to all the staff at UPMC West Shore for providing end of life care and to the EMTs with the Hampton Ambulance service.
