Clarence W. Blocher, Jr., 90, of New Oxford, husband of Margaret A. Gardner Blocher, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at The Brethren Home Community.
Born on Thursday, April 16, 1931 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Clarence W. Blocher, Sr. and Anna C. Feeser Blocher. A 1949 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Clarence worked for his parents at Blocher’s Market in Hanover. He later retired after owning and operating the Beltone Hearing Aid Service in Hanover and York for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hanover and the former Lohr’s United Methodist Church and was a lifetime member of the Hanover Country Club. Active in the Boy Scouts of America, he was a proud recipient of the Eagle Scout designation. Clarence enjoyed playing pool, cards, traveling and all sports, especially golf.
In addition to his wife of nearly 65 years, survivors include four children, Barbara A. Graziano and her husband, Jeffrey, of Harrisburg, Connie J. Myers of Raleigh, NC, Daniel W. Blocher and his wife, Donna, of Lake Oswego, OR, and Russell W. Blocher and his wife, Susan, of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Sara K. Petrouskie and her husband, Tyler, Amelia G. Graziano and Alexandra C. Blocher; a great-grandson, Owen R. Petrouskie; a sister, June E. Bitzer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM April 16, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. B. Michael Brossman officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church parlor one hour prior to the service.
