Clair E. Garrett, 95, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, August 20, 2010 at Homewood at Plum Creek following a period of declining health.
A native and lifelong resident of Hanover, he was born on October 7, 1914 and was one of twelve children of Horatio W. and Emily May Wildasin Garrett. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Grace E. Bair Garrett, who died in 2003 and by his five brothers and six sisters.
He spent his career in the food service industry, employed by Snyder’s of Hanover and retiring from Utz Quality Foods, Inc. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening, woodworking and needlepoint.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Miller and her husband, Solomon Miller, Jr. of Spring Grove and Elaine Hull and her husband, Kenneth Hull, Jr. of Hanover; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Reynolds, Robert Griges, Christopher Miller, Harry Miller, Glenn Miller and Eugene Miller. The viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
