Christopher Eugene Lockard, 55, of Hanover, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at his home.
Born on Tuesday, January 9, 1968, he was the son of Eugene C. and Nancy L. Carbaugh Lockard of Hanover. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Dorothy Carbaugh; paternal grandmother, Velma Baumgardner; and uncles, William Carbaugh and Nelson Lockard. A 1986 graduate of Hanover High School, he received his Associate’s Degree from York Technical Institute in 1988. Chris retired in 2018 as a Senior Electronics Testing Technician for Vectron International in Mount Holly Springs after 30 years of service.
Chris was a life member of the former Eagle Fire Company No. 2 and the former Pennville Friendship Fire Company No. 1. He has currently served as the 5th Ward councilman for the Hanover Borough Council since 2018, and was the borough council representative serving on the Hanover Area Fire and Rescue Commission. He also held various offices for the Hanover Area Volunteer Fire and Rescue division. Chris led the fight to obtain the old Eagle Fire Station for use as the Greater Hanover Fire Museum which opened in 2018, and also served as the museum’s President, Vice President and Secretary at various times. He took it upon himself to purchase all of the paint for the inside of the museum and dedicated many hours to the painting and organization of displays. He was greatly honored when the fire museum’s parlor was named after him by his peers.
In addition to his parents, survivors include a sister, Julie Wisotzkey and her husband, Richard, of Laurel, DE; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Ethan Christopher Wisotzkey and his wife, Sarah Mae, of Salisbury, MD, Olivia Peyton Wisotzkey, Austin Lane Wisotzkey, Emerson Kate Wisotzkey, and Riley Lauren Wisotzkey, all of Laurel, DE.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Calvary Bible Church, 603 Wilson Avenue in Hanover with Pastor Dominic Aquilino officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8:00 PM on Thursday and one hour prior to the service.
