Charlotte A. Barthold, 83, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Born on Thursday, December 15, 1932, she was a daughter of the late of Calvin L. and Anna S. Parr Mundorff and wife of 57 years to the late Stanley Barthold, who died in 2008. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Donald and James Barthold; one daughter, Betty Bange; three brothers, Raymond, Earl and Robert Mundorff; a sister, Janet Huff and a daughter-in-law, Lana Barthold.
She was a devoted mother and stayed home to raise her children, but was later employed by Snyder’s-Lance for 26 years before retiring in 1995. She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Littlestown. She enjoyed puzzles and liked to take things apart to see how they worked and how they would be put them back together. She enjoyed gardening in her flower beds and loved shiny, glittery things, often spray painting items gold to make them prettier. She had a strong character and was resilient in nature, bouncing back from many hardships in life.
She is survived by three children, Shirley May and her husband, Roger of East Berlin, Robert Barthold and his wife, Tracy of Glenville and Karen Mundorff and her husband, William, Jr. of Littlestown; ten grandchildren, Chad Barthold, Kim Collette, Kristie Brooks, Corey May, Heather Barthold, Crystal Felson, Matthew Barthold, Amy Barthold, Nicholas Barthold and Benjamin Bange; nine great-grandchildren, Sierra and Landon Collette, Josh Barthold, Tate Brooks, Brennen, Hailey and Tinleigh Blose, Lyla Felson and Addison Bange; five sisters, Susan Frock and Jean Gartrell of Hanover, Darlene Reed and her husband, Donald of Littlestown, Pearl Brown of New Oxford and Betty Rang and her husband, Jim of CO; a brother, William Mundorff of Hanover and a special feline companion, Shadow.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Friday, April 22, 2016 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc. , 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. Burial will follow in Christ United Church of Christ Cemetery with her grandsons and Jonathan Collette serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
