Charles Parr

Charles “Charlie” Parr, Jr., 96, of Hanover, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Hanover Hospital.



Born May 22, 1914 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Martha Geiman Parr. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Frances C. Lawrence Parr, who died in 1999; a daughter, Cecelia Stremmel; a step-daughter, Linda Little; five brothers; and six sisters.



Mr. Parr retired from Stewart & March Construction Company after 25 years of service and later worked part-time at Reicharts Camping Center in Hanover for 24 years. A US Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Hanover VFW Post #2506 and the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post # 14. He was also a member of the McSherrystown Moose and was a former member of the United Brethren Church in Hanover.



Survivors include his son, Charles G. Parr; three granddaughters, Kelly Miller, Laura Myers, Kathy Neiderer; two grandsons, Tony Stremmel and Jeffrey Little, all of Hanover; and six great-grandchildren.



The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with Pastor Jeremiah Herbert officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles G. Parr, Tony Stremmel, Jeffrey Little, Dave Miller, Fred Myers and Phil Little.



The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held 6-8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
