Catherine H. “Cass” Wentz, 90, of New Oxford, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.
Born on Wednesday, November 19, 1924 in Littlestown, she was the daughter of the late George Sheetz and Esther Dell Weaver. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Clark E. Wentz, who died in 1992; two sons, Glenn and Edward Wentz; and a brother, Harold “Pete” Smith.
Mrs. Wentz was always known as a hard worker. She enjoyed her 33 years at Revonah Pretzel until her retirement at the age of 81. She was also a former employee at Hanover Pen Company. She was a lifelong member of Trinity United Church of Christ and was a devoted wife and mother.
Survivors include a son, Leroy E. Wentz and his wife, Ellen, of Hanover; two grandchildren, Randy Wentz and his wife, Annette, of Spring Grove, and Stacy Wentz; a great-grandson, Cameron Wentz; and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Wentz, all of Hanover.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Garry Sheaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the viewings to be held from 6 to 8 pm Monday and 10 to 11 am Tuesday at the funeral home.
