Carla S. Rohrbaugh, 96, of Hanover, beloved wife of the late W. Max Rohrbaugh, entered into God’s eternal care on Thursday, July 7, 2022 surrounded by her family at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born on Tuesday, November 10, 1925 in Hanover, she was the loving daughter of the late William and Henrietta Willet Sheaffer, and was also preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Max, who died on July 6, 2017. A 1943 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she was a faithful member of Trinity United Church of Christ.
Mrs. Rohrbaugh retired from Hanover High School, where she worked in the cafeteria for 15 years. She was a volunteer with the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary for more than 55 years, working in the Hospitality Shop. She was also a member of the Hanover YWCA, Friends of the Guthrie Memorial Library and the Hanover Area Historical Society. An avid card player, Carla was a member of several card clubs. As recently as last week, she enjoyed playing Bridge with friends. She took great pleasure in watching television game shows such as Jeopardy, Family Feud, and past episodes of Seinfeld. She knew how to laugh and have fun and, along with her husband, had a daily routine of meeting with friends at the McDonald’s on Carlisle Street. Following Max’s retirement, they traveled extensively including a two-month, 15,000 mile, Alaskan trip.
Survivors include four children, Ann Rohrbaugh and her husband, Brian Kastman, of Kalamazoo, MI, Bill Rohrbaugh and his wife, Tracey, of Leesville, SC, John Rohrbaugh and his wife, Jane, of Leesburg, VA, and Jeff Rohrbaugh and his wife, Bridgette, of Downingtown; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hanover with The Rev. Dr. Kim Blocher officiating.
