C. Raymond “Razor” Toal, 94, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Hanover Hospital.
Born on Saturday, July 19, 1919 in McSherrystown, he was the son of the late Pauline McKinney Stauffer and was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nadine “Deanie” Rickrode Toal, who died in 2001, and his step-brother, Raymond G. “Reds” Stauffer. He was a 1937 graduate of Eichelberger High School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
Mr. Toal retired from the US Postal Service in Hanover in 1983 after 30 years of service. He had been a volunteer at Hanover Hospital and was a past member of the Hanover Elks BPOE Lodge #763. He enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Survivors include two sons, Shanon R. Toal of York and Jeffrey J. Toal of McSherrystown; three grandchildren, Shanon R. Toal, Jr. of Hanover, Neil P. Toal of New Oxford and Kathy Toal-Philipsen of Hanover; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron and Kaitlyn Philipsen, and Jacob Toal.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Monday, March 31, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover with The Rev. Stephen Kelley serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, with a prayer service being held at 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
