Services: The funeral will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at Panebaker Funeral Home with Pastor Steven E. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation: The viewing will be from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at the funeral home.
Burtis L. Slaybaugh, 76, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Thursday, January 29, 2009 at home.Born on July 27, 1932, he was a son of the late Harold and Kathryn Brown Slaybaugh and husband of the late Edna R. Slaybaugh, who died in 2006. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Raymond, Harold, and Kenneth Slaybaugh and his sisters, Rita J. Slenker and Betty Noel. Mr. Slaybaugh served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, earning the United Nations Service Medal. He had been employed by Bowen McLaughlin York until his retirement in 1994. He was member of St. Bartholomew’s Church ELCA and held a lifetime membership with VFW Post 2506. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his garden and developing his carpentry skills.Survivors include his two daughters, Janice R. Klunk and her husband Joseph and Joanne D. Slaybaugh; a granddaughter, Megan Klunk; a grandson, Joshua Klunk, all of Hanover and a sister, Ruby Hoover of Spring Grove.
