Services: The memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with Sr. Deb McClellan, Spiritual Counselor at VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove, officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burtis D. Dubbs, 82, of Hanover, passed away peacefully in his sleep Monday, August 3, 2009 at Cross Keys Village-The Brethren Home Community.Born December 16, 1926 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Burtis D. Dubbs, Sr. and Henrietta Baker Dubbs Reichart. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn Jacoby Dubbs, who died in 1998, his wife of 7 years, Katherine “Kitty” Shaeffer Lamb Dubbs, who died in 2007 and a son, Burtis D. Dubbs, III. Mr. Dubbs attended Eichelberger High School before enlisting as a United State Merchant Marine. On June 25, 1945, he was invited into the Ancient Order of the Deep, which is given to crew members crossing the equator. He then enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. In 2004, he was awarded his high school diploma from New Oxford High School.He was a member of A.A.R.P., the American Legion and the Hanover Industrial Management Club. He enjoyed traveling.Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Ann Hare of Hanover and her fiancé, Curvin Snyder III of Spring Grove; a son, Eric Steven Dubbs and his wife, Linda of Hanover; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Neiderer of Hanover and a large, extended family that included step-children, step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.


Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 North Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331 or to the Adams Co SPCA, 11 Goldenville Road, Gettysburg, PA. 17325
