Bret A. Gladfelter

Bret A. Gladfelter, 46, of Elkton, MD, loving husband to Heather Green Gladfelter, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on Saturday, October 5, 1974 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Ok Cha “Jane” Gladfelter, who died on September 21, 2009 and Donald “Donnie” Gladfelter, who died on July 11, 2020. A graduate of South Western High School, he attended Penn State University and Towson University and worked as an occupational therapist at Johns Hopkins- Bayview and ChristianaCare Hospital.

Formerly a longtime member of St. Jacob’s (Stone) United Church of Christ, Bret enjoyed golf, poker, camping, fishing and watching sports, especially the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. A dedicated father and loyal friend, he will be remembered for his fun-loving spirit and his commitment to his family and many friends.

In addition to his wife of 12 years, survivors include two children, Mason and Addison Gladfelter; 12 aunts and uncles, Bob Gladfelter, Richard Gladfelter and his wife, Linda, Kevin Gladfelter and his wife, Linda, Nancy Monath and her husband, Jim, Ho Song Kim, Nae Song Kim, Chin Hae Kim, Chim Young Kim, Young Nam Kim, Chin Nan Wierzba and her husband, Richard, Kuk Chu Kim, and Nan Chu Kim and her husband, Karoyl; numerous cousins; parents-in-law, David and Hope Green; and a step-mother, Shirley McWilliams Gladfelter.

The family will receive friends at a viewing from 5PM to 7PM on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. A graveside service will be held at 1PM on Monday, November 23, 2020 at Marburg Memorial Gardens, 2510 Grandview Road, Hanover with The Rev. Scott Sager officiating.

In compliance with health and public safety directives, those attending will be required to wear masks and be socially distanced.
