Brenda Lea Pickett Shipley, 77, of Abbottstown, loving wife of Michael G. Shipley, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, September 24, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.
Born on Wednesday, March 1, 1944 in Sykesville, MD, she was a daughter of the late James Terry Dearing and Elizabeth Morris Dearing. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel Gillis Pickett in 2005; and two sons, Terry Michael Pickett in 2014 and Timothy Allen Pickett in 2011. A member of the Gates of Praise Worship Center in Littlestown, Brenda retired in 2014 from Homewood at Plum Creek, where she was a podiatry assistant. She took great pleasure in gardening, going to the beach and spending time with her family. In her younger days, she enjoyed horseback riding.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of eight years, are three daughters, Tammy Garrett and her husband, James, Lori Griffith and her husband, Charles, and Jackie Pickett, all of Hanover; a son, Samuel Pickett and his wife, Diane, of Westminster, MD; eleven grandchildren, Jason, Sami Jo, James, Bradley, Amber, Brittany, Robie, Brandon, Megan, Tamitha and Kelsea; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Vincent, Austin, Harper, Wyatt, Willow and Orion; and a sister, Diane Caldwell and her husband, James, of Knoxville, TN.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with Pastor Garry Sheaffer officiating.
