Bonnie Lee (Huber) Stick passed away peacefully February 25th 2023 with family by her side after a long battle with dementia. Bonnie was 70 years old. She was born in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania and was the only child of Edward Huber and Betty (Behney) Huber.
Bonnie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Michael Stick, Jr., and wife, Katie, and Christine Klunk and husband, James; and four grandchildren, Andrew, Owen, Jak, and Wren.
After graduating from Pine Grove High School, Bonnie attended Franklin and Marshall College in the Fall of 1970 as part of the second co-educational class of women to attend the school. She graduated with a degree in Government in 1974. Shortly after graduating from Franklin and Marshall, Bonnie moved to Hanover. She began teaching at Spring Grove High School in the Social Studies department and later began substituting throughout the Hanover area while raising her two children. In August of 1991, she began teaching full time at Delone Catholic High School until her retirement in December of 2008.
Bonnie was not only an avid reader and the family’s resident “Jeopardy Champion” but she also loved to travel. She traveled to six of the seven continents where she walked the ruins at Machu Picchu, climbed the steps to the top of Arc de Triomphe, visited the Taj Majal, rode camels in Egypt, and hugged a few pandas along the way.
While Bonnie could always be found with a book in hand, usually a travel book, her adventures were not limited to reading and travel. She selflessly donated much of her time volunteering as a docent with the Hanover Area Historical Society, acting as a treasurer for Hanover Area Needlework Association and Hanover Hospital Auxiliary, and was a member of Hanover Chapter of Dining for Women. She was a member of the Xi Theta Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International sorority, Gals On The Go, and the York County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. She also enjoyed playing mahjong with friends, babysitting her grandson Andrew, helping Christine at her business, and walking her dog Blackie.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00PM on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover.
