Bonnie Burger, 74, of New Oxford and formerly of Pleasant Valley, loving wife of L. Wayne Burger, Jr., passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born on Saturday, November 28, 1942 in Baltimore City, she was a daughter of the late Charles K. and Juna G. Hoyle Hauman. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth A. Mellott and a niece, Sherry D. Mellott- Dasher.
Bonnie was employed by Bank of America until her retirement and was a member of The Red Hat Society of the Cross Keys Village- the Brethren Home Community. An avid horse enthusiast, she enjoyed training and riding horses. Later on in her life, she became involved in 4-H, where should would teach children of all backgrounds about horses. When she was not teaching or working, Bonnie truly enjoyed spending time with her husband, whom she shared 48 years of marriage with.
In addition to her husband, survivors include three nieces, Deborah Resig and her husband, Robert, of Hanover, Amy Barksdale and her husband, Leland, of Littlestown, and Kimberly Mellott-Lee and her husband, Robert, of Baltimore; six great-nephews, Tim Cassidy, Dan Tanner, Corey Mellott, Stephen Stump, Brandon Lee, and Adam Dasher; two great-nieces, Sarah Tanner Ashe and her husband, Nicholas, and Toni Mellott; a beloved sister-in-law, Debbie Mellott of New Oxford; a brother-in-law, George W. Burger and his wife, Sue of Grandview, TX and and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 1903 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Westminister, MD with The Rev. Dan Thomas officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bonnie’s memory to the Good Samaritan Fund of The Brethren Home Community, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
