Blair J. Geissinger, 90, died peacefully Thursday morning, August 1, 2013 at York Hospital.
Born Monday, March 12, 1923 in Huntingdon, he was a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania and was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marion who died on February 1, 2013. He was a US Army veteran of World War II with the 78th Infantry Division, receiving a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars.
Blair and Marion owned and operated the B&M Sandwich Shop in Hanover years ago. Later, he worked in Grants Department Store as a Manager. Blair enjoyed Miller Hi Life, Stegmaier, fishing, and the Baltimore Orioles. Every year he would plant a vegetable garden.
He is survived by a niece and nephews who remember him fondly as a good, fun-loving man at Cowan's Gap with the crazy straw hat flipping pancakes on a spatula.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church celebrated by The Rev. Msgr. James M. Lyons. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
