Beverly Jean O’Bradovic, 98, a resident of Hanover from 1971 until 2021, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Pickering Manor in Newtown, PA, where she lived for the past year.
Born on Friday, November 21, 1924 in Oakland, CA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph William and Martha Frances Raines Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, George O’Bradovic, who died in 2014; and two brothers, Terry and Bill Miller. She was a 1942 graduate of Cardinal High School in Arlington Heights, IL. As a young girl, she was a pupil and performer for the Gladys Benedict Normal School of Dancing in Chicago. .After high school, she worked at Douglas Aircraft Company in Chicago where she was a "Rosie the Riveter" helping to construct more than half of the ten thousand C-47 Skytrain U.S. Army cargo planes manufactured during World War II. The Union League of Philadelphia presented Beverly with an award in appreciation of her World War II efforts as an original “Rosie the Riveter” on October 4, 2019. After the War, she attended the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studied drawing and painting. Later, she worked as a professional dancer for the Dorothy Hild Dancers, which was known for putting on elaborate productions at the Edgewater Beach Hotel's Marine Dining Room during the 1940s-1950s. She was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed dancing and drawing and was an avid reader, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Survivors include two children, Terry O’Bradovic and his wife, Shellyn, of Hanover, and Jeannine O’Bradovic of Newtown; a grandson, Sawyer O’Bradovic and his wife, Michelle; and two great-grandchildren, Beckett and Sage O’Bradovic, all of Hanover.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
