Betty L. Witmer, 86, of Hanover entered into God’s eternal care Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Homewood at Plum Creek following a period of declining health.
Born August 26, 1924 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Wiliam E. and Beatrice A. Harlacher Wentz. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Richard K. Witmer, who died in 1991; a daughter, Tammy K. Huff; and a son-in-law, Kenneth E. Raber.
Mrs. Witmer was a 1942 graduate of Eichelberger High School. She was a former employee of Doubleday Publishing and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She was an avid reader and devoted her life to studying God’s word.
Survivors include a daughter, Holly L. Raber of Glenville; a brother, William H. Wentz and his wife, Verna; a grandson, Justin Huff; and a son-in-law, Robert Huff, all of Hanover.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 9, 2011 at Homewood Chapel at Plum Creek,425 Westminster Avenue in Hanover with The Rev. Joel B. Hummel and The Rev. Carroll Luckenbaugh officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Homewood Chapel.
