Betty S. Meckley
Betty S. Meckley, 79, of Hanover, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Hanover Hospital.
Born February 7, 1934 in Harford County, MD, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Hazel Cannon Ayers, and was the wife of the late Clair J. Meckley, who died in 1989. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Ayers; and a granddaughter, Macie Peters.
Mrs. Meckley retired from the VNA Hospice of Hanover & Spring Grove where she was a caregiver. She was a member of the Apostolic Ministries Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Peggy Fogle of Hanover, and Michelle Peters and her husband, Dennis, of York; two sisters, Dorothy Fuller and Sarah Penton; one brother, Edward Ayers; and six grandchildren, Eddie and Ben Fogle, and Cory, Zachary, Anthony and Kristina Peters.
The funeral will be held at 7pm Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Apostolic Ministries Church, 955 Baltimore Street, Hanover with The Rev. Jerry K. Tipton officiating. The family will receive friends at a viewing 5-7:00pm Tuesday at the church. A committal service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association; 3544 N. Progress Avenue, Suite 101; Harrisburg, PA 17110.
