Betty May Krebs Darr, 84, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born on Saturday, October 15, 1932 in Codorus Twp., she was a daughter of the late Merl E. and Esta M. Walker Krebs. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Ray E. Darr, who died in 2006; and a great-grandson, Silas Lynch.
A 1950 graduate of Codorus Twp High School in Glenville, she later attended Peg Horn School of Cosmetology in Hanover. She was employed by Hanover Hospital for several years and also worked for Bon-Ton, from which she retired. Extremely devoted in her faith, she was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where she was a member of the choir, served on the board of the Women of Trinity as well as the church’s social committee. She had a servant heart; she volunteered for the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days and was active with the Hanover Christian Women’s Club. Creative in spirit, she enjoyed sewing and making people laugh with her funny sense of humor. Music filled her heart and her family and friends were her melody.
Survivors include her five children, Danette Eline and her husband, Benjamin of McSherrystown, Debra Troxell and her husband, John of Carlisle, Keith Albright and his wife, Sandy of Maryville, TN, Kevin Albright and his wife, Romie of Richmond, VA and Denise Warner and her husband, Eric of Hanover; a stepdaughter, Jane Caler and her husband, Steve of Hanover; a brother, James Krebs and his wife, Marian of Severn, MD; two sisters, Beulah Kopp and her husband, Robert of York and Joyce Hoover of Pinehurst, NC; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with another one due in August; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held 2 pm Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Trinity United Church of Christ with The Rev. Peg. Grzelkowski officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The burial will be held privately in St. Jacob’s Stone Church in Glenville.
