Visitation: A viewing and time to meet with the family will be Sunday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover and from 10:00AM to 11:00AM Monday in the church parlor.
Beryl D. Stauffer, 78, of Hanover died Friday morning, April 18, 2008 at his home. He was the loving husband of Marion C. Klunk Stauffer with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on April 3, 2008. Born on April 27, 1929 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Samuel G. and Mary A. (Wagner) Stauffer Wentz. A 1947 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Mr. Stauffer was an Administrator of the Electrical, Construction, and Maintenance Relay and Electronics Department for Metropolitan Edison in York. He retired in 1989 after 39 years of dedicated service. He was a saxophone and clarinet player in the Lyric Band of Hanover since 1948, receiving the well earned Life Membership Award from the Lyric Band in 2007. An avid proponent of fitness and sense of community, Mr. Stauffer was a charter member of the Hanover Area YMCA where he served on the Board of Directors for 21 years until 2005. He was also a member of the Met Ed 25 Year Club, the Met Ed Retirees Group, the American Train Collectors Association, a life member of the 13th Ward Political Club, and a former life member of Local 472 AFM. A service to celebrate his life will be 11:00AM Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 127 York Street, Hanover. A viewing and time to meet with the family will be Sunday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover and from 10:00AM to 11:00AM Monday in the church parlor. Burial will be in York Road Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be his pastor Rev. Timothy J. Kielley. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Susan L. Stauffer of York and Sharon L.S. Mazion and husband Leigh of Edina, MN; his brother Barry G. Stauffer and wife Dona of Hanover, and their daughter Amy Reynold of East Berlin; and many nieces and nephews. He was a very proud grandfather of Gabrielle C. and Isabella M. Mazion.
