Bernard E. Martz, 88, of Hanover, husband of Dolores Becker Martz, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at his home.
Born on Thursday, August 15, 1935 in Hanover, he was a son of the late George Francis and Edna Elizabeth Hartlaub Martz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and six sisters. Bernard proudly served his country in the US Army and later retired in 2005 from Asplundh after 50 years of service. He was a member of Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. He will be remembered as a hard working man who enjoyed woodworking, hunting and watching westerns. Moreover, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, he is survived by four sons, Randall Martz, Andrew Martz both of Hanover, Philip Martz of Spring Grove, and Steven Martz of Hanover; three grandchildren, Shane, Melissa and Miranda Martz; and a great-grandson, Timothy Sullivan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 12, 2023 at St. Vincent dePaul Church, 220 Third Street in Hanover, by The Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt. Burial will follow in St. Vincent’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the mass.
