Bernard Eugene Elliot, Sr., age 83, of Hanover, PA entered into God’s eternal care on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Hanover General Hospital.
Born November 16, 1926, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mabel Hunter Elliot. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph H. Elliot, and a sister, Louise M. Graham.
Mr. Elliot retired in 1988, after 35 years of service, from the Evening Sun. He was a member of Bethel Assembly of God in Littlestown, and was also a member of the Full Gospel Men’s Fellowship International Chapter 11. Bernard served with the US Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gloria A. Simpson Elliot; two sons, Rev. Bernard E. Elliot, Jr. and his wife, Jean, of Pittsburgh, and Neal R. Elliot and his wife, Gail, of Hanover; a daughter, Colleen A. Cummins and her husband, Thomas, of Lititz; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Bethel Assembly of God. Burial will be private in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Bethel Assembly of God Building Fund, 1125 Frederick Pike, Littlestown, PA 17340.
The family members wish to publicly thank the entire staff of doctors and nurses at Hanover General Hospital for the care and concern shown to Bernard and the entire family during his stay.
