Benjamin K. "Ben" Shaffer

Benjamin K. “Ben” Shaffer, 44, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Monday, September 18, 2023 at his home.

Born on Thursday, October 12, 1978 in Hanover, he was the son of Deborah Garrett Shaffer of Hanover and the late Steven L Shaffer. He was also a stepson of Rod Bixler. A 1997 graduate of South Western High School, he was the owner and operator of Hometown Custom Exteriors. Ben was a member of the YMCA of Hanover. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, and playing golf. In his spare time, he loved to watch his daughters compete in their sporting activities and to spend time with his dogs, Bentley and Bobo.

In addition to his mother and step-father, he is survived by three daughters, Maddy Mummert-Shaffer, Maci Shaffer and Peyton Shaffer; a sister, Amber Dubs and her husband, Doug; a step-sister, Holly Maisano; a step-brother, Adam Bixler and his wife, Angie; seven nieces and three nephews; and his former wife, Jackie Shaffer.

A service to celebrate Ben’s life will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover with The Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service. Burial will be private.
