Benedicta “Beńe” Pacheco VanPelt, 92, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at home surrounded by her family.
Born on Sunday, May 30, 1926 in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Anselmo and Maria Bartolomei Pacheco. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 67 years, Donald T. VanPelt, Sr.; a sister, Ana Sloan; and three brothers, Yiruardi, Angel and Norton Pacheco. Mrs. VanPelt retired in 1988 from the former Hanover House and was a member of the Family Life Church of God. Gifted with her hands, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting, gardening and playing the organ.
Survivors include three sons, Donald T. VanPelt, Jr. of Hanover, Paul R. VanPelt and his wife, Dixie, of South Lyon, MI, and Richard R. VanPelt and his wife, Sharon, of Spring Lake, NC; two daughters, Diana M. Curry and her husband, Larry, of New Oxford and Elaine J. VanPelt of Hampton, VA; eight grandchildren, Amy Honeycutt, Larry E. Curry, Jr., Dustin Curry, Paul E. VanPelt, Amanda Vidljinovic, Carey Ann Gee, and Kelli and Thomas VanPelt; seven great-grandchildren, Shawn, Shane, Emmalee, Cody, Levi, Troy and Richard; two brothers, Luis A. Pacheco of Ponce, Puerto Rico and Gilberto Pacheco of Belleflower, CA; and a sister, Gladys Rosado of Ponce, Puerto Rico.
The funeral will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. John S. Goff officiating. Burial will be held privately in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
