Beatrice Kathaleen Day

Beatrice Kathaleen “Beaty” Day, 96, of Hanover went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 20, 2012 at her daughter’s residence following a brief illness.

Born on February 17, 1915 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Milton K. and Mabel Shultz Fridinger and wife of 53 years to the late William L. Day, who died in 1987. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Pauline Elizabeth Fridinger; four other sisters, Eva Mae Fridinger, Catherine Louise Ensor, Betty Grace Fridinger and Mary Ruth Fridinger; and three brothers, Raymond Milton Fridinger (Mary Ruth’s twin), William Richard Fridinger and James Edward Fridinger.



Mrs. Day had been employed at both Snyder’s of Hanover and the silk mill in Hanover, but retired from what is now Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group following 30 years of service. A staunch witness to her faith, she was an active 65 year member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. Following her husband’s death, she gave money to have a church built in Africa in his memory. She enjoyed reciting poetry,tending to her vegetable garden and was well-known for her yard sales and her cracker pudding. Having an eye for art, she loved to decorate for the Christmas season and spent hours decorating unique Easter eggs.



She was devoted to her family which includes two daughters, Shirley A. Shorb and her husband, Clair, and Nancy L. Kinard and her husband, Ray, all of Hanover; a son, William D. Day and his wife, Susan, of Dagsboro, DE; seven grandchildren, William C. Shorb, Jeremy D. Day, Eric S. Day, William E. Yingling, Jr., Joseph W. Yingling, Heidi S. Smith and Shantel L. Reinbold; ten great-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild; a sister, Norma Jean Kreidler of Hanover; and many nieces and nephews.



The funeral will be held at 10 am Wednesday at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 205 Fulton Street, Hanover with The Rev. Gerald Dunlap, The Rev. Dan Thomas and the Rev. Robert Grosse officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with William Yingling, Jr., Joseph Yingling, Jeremy and Eric Day, Bill Stitely and William Yingling, Sr. serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the viewing from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.
