Barbara M. Olson

Barbara Jennings Olson, 81, of Hanover, on Thursday, October 16, 2014 departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father and to be reunited with her loved ones already with Him.



Born Saturday, July 8, 1933 in Amherst Courthouse, VA, she was a daughter of the late John Hugo and Eva Ware Jennings. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Grace Davis.



Barbara attended St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had been active with the YWCA and took great pleasure in supporting and hosting international travelers and foreign exchange students from many different countries. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and loved to sing ditties from her childhood with her two sisters.



Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Howard M. Olson; a daughter, Leslie K. Crincoli and her husband, Dominick, of Tarrytown, NY; a son, Eric G. Olson and his wife, Celia Mitchell, of Coudersport, PA; and a sister, LeVonne Flint and her husband, Marshall, of Glasgow, VA.



A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 725 Baltimore Street, Hanover, with The Rev. Kirk A. Griffin officiating.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000.
