Barbara A. MacDonald O’Connor, 91, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at her home.
Born on May 27, 1930 in Somerville, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Ethel M. Fitzgerald MacDonald. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Paul T. O’Connor, who died in 2009; and a brother, Herbert MacDonald. Barbara was a dedicated homemaker who also enjoyed working as a legal secretary. She was a member of the Church of the Open Door in York. An avid golfer, she was a longtime member of the Bon Air Country Club in Glen Rock, where she celebrated a hole-in-one and spent many joyful hours with family and friends. A devoted Boston Red Sox fan, Barbara enjoyed knitting, working with her hands, exercising, playing games and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include four children, Nancy Doyne, Gail Biba and her husband, John, David O’Connor and his wife, Anne, and Kelly Eckels and her husband, Mark; 13 grandchildren, Kate Cannon, Maggie and Libby Doyne, Jay, Paul and Tim Biba, Shawn, Ryan and Kelly O’Connor, Julie and Daniel Eckels, Sarah Cook, and and Molly Eckels; seven great-grandchildren, Ruby, Jack, Rose, Blake, Wesley, Owen and Addie; and a beloved exchange student who became a cherished part of the family, Juliana Lopez Lloyd.
A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 30, 2021 at The Stone Mill 1792, 6210 Smoketown Rd, Glenville, PA. A Facebook memorial page has been created in order that those who may not be able to attend may view the service by visiting

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
For the health and safety of all attendees, the family requests that masks be worn and social distancing be observed. As the service will be held outdoors, please feel free to dress comfortably.
