Arthur H. “Otts” Mixter, 85, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Monday, December 17, 2012 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born February 11, 1927 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William C. and Alice Smith Mixter. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Reisinger Mixter, who died in 2001; and five sisters. He was a graduate of the Buffalo Bible Institute and the New York Technical Institute.
Mr. Mixter was a member of Chapelgate Presbyterian Church in Marriottsville, MD and retired in 1989 from Westinghouse where he was an electronic technologist. He served with the US Army during World War II and enjoyed sketching and doing genealogy.
Survivors include two sons, William K. Mixter and his wife, Linda, of Hanover, and Robert A. Mixter and his wife, Terry, of Cockeysville, MD; four grandchildren, Ken Mixter of Santa Clara, CA, Kevin and Tim Mixter both of Hanover, and Lauren Mixter of Cockeysville; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Aaron Mixter both of Santa Clara.
The funeral will be held at 11:00am Thursday, December 20. 2012 at Homewood Chapel at Plum Creek , 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover with The Revs. Joel B. Hummel and Austin Chinault, II officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg, MD.
The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held 6-8:00pm Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover and 10:30-11:00am Thursday at Homewood Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolence Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
