Arthur Searle Foreman, Sr., 90, of Hanover, loving husband of Janet Reindollar Foreman, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born on January 6, 1923 in York, he was a son of the late Charles R. and Edna Altland Foreman. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Foreman and a sister, Lena Gingrich.
A 1941 graduate of West York High School, he retired from Elsner Engineering in 1988 as a machinist following over 40 years of employment. He was very proud to have served his country in the United States Navy. He was a faithful and committed member of Trinity United Church of Christ for 66 years and was always available to help his neighbors. Skilled with his hands, he built his own home and enjoyed making fine furniture. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by three children, Stephen Foreman and his wife, Jennifer of Franklin, Susan Foreman Gonzalez of Albuquerque, NM, and Arthur S. Foreman, Jr. and his wife, Martha of Winston-Salem, NC; eleven grandchildren, Anthony, Aaron, Adam and Ian Foreman, Reynaldo and Elisia Gonzalez, Thomas, Benjamin and Andrew Foreman and Joshua and Trevor Booth; a great-grandson, Jackson and a half-brother, Robert Gress of York.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Trinity United Church of Christ with The Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will follow at 1:30 pm Wednesday at Rest Haven Cemetery with military graveside rites being rendered by Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
