Arlene Marks, 95, a resident of Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover, died on January 24, 2024.
Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lillie Gerhart Wiest. A graduate of East Cocalico High School, Bryland Institute, and McCann School of Business, she also attended Cedar Crest College. Arlene worked as a secretary, Program Coordinator of Chestnut Hill United Church of Christ, and was a Food and Nutrition Instructor at Lehigh Carbon Community College. As an active youth leader, she led work camps in several states and worked side-by-side in Christian ministry with her husband of 67 years, The Rev. Earl Marks, who died in 2017. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Hanover.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Holly Sue Reed of Annapolis, MD; two grandsons, Jason Reed of Felton, PA and Justin Reed of Centreville, MD.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Homewood Chapel at Plum Creek, 425 Westminster Ave., Hanover, PA 17331. The family will receive friends following the service.
