Tyler Brown of San Francisco, CA, Melanie (Brown) Hess and her husband, Eric, of Marlton, NJ., and Heather (Brown) Spiller and, Graham, of Falls Church, VA; two sisters, Elsie Strine and her husband, Jay, of Aberdeen, MD., and Patti Brown Luzi Earley and her husband, Pete Earley, of Chantilly, VA; a brother, James Brown of Midlothian, VA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dana Davis in 2006 and Joanne Corn in 2009. The husbands of his two late sisters are Donnie Davis of Chattanooga, TN and Phillip Corn of Raleigh NC.
A graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, he always cherished his DKE Brotherhood from there. Ruey lived in Cranbury, NJ with his wife and moved to Hanover, PA to have and raise his family. He worked at Farmer’s Bank for many years, Owned Thoman’s Wallcovering and Distribution and later retired from York Wallcovering, as the Marketing Director.
Ruey was one-of-a-kind, handsome, thoughtful, smart, talented, funny and full of life at any given moment. He was the very best husband, father, brother and friend. Ruey found a common bond with anyone who came in contact with him, which made everyone feel very special. He was the person that everyone wanted to be with, and yet his modest demeanor never showed it in any of his actions throughout his days. Ruey had many interests, including all types of music, theater, art and sports (especially golf). If you were having a bad day, he would certainly try to put a smile on your face to make your day a little better. He loved being in the center of anything he would do. You would always find Ruey in the center of the room with friends gathered around him full of laughter, holding court telling a funny story or finding something funny in the topic of the day. He will be missed by each and every one of us who knew him.
Ruey gave one of his kidneys to his dear sister Dana in 2000, and now has given his brain to Duke University Hospital to help find a cure for Glioblastoma (brain cancer).
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16th from 5-8pm at Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Drive in Hanover. A service honoring Ruey will be held on Friday, June 17th at 9am at the Hanover First Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Ruey’s memory may be made to the Duke Cancer Center, Brain Tumor Clinic, 20 Duke Medicine Circle, Clinic 3 – 1 Durham, NC 27710-2000 or to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
