Anni Gaussmann, 76, of Hanover, entered into God’s care Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Cross Keys Village—The Brethren Home Community following a period of declining health.
Born on June 6, 1933 in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Johann and Anna Slaby Jaborek . She was also preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Willi Gaussman, who died in 1996. She and her late husband owned the Hofbrauhaus in Abbottstown for 19 years until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include her three sisters, Julie Wright and her husband, Phil, of York Springs, Marie Renz of New Oxford and Finny Staub and her husband, Steve, of Glenville; a brother, Hans Jaborek and his wife, Joyce, of Virginia Beach, VA; two nieces, Christina Duncan and her husband, Butch, of Hanover and Elaine Craig of New Oxford; three nephews, Tony Jury and his companion, Ava, of Hanover and Ed and Frank Jury of Glenville; and two great-nieces, Danielle Duncan of Hanover and Jodi Jury of Clearwater, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, February 22, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover with The Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The viewing will be held from 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc. 311 Broadway, Hanover with a prayer service being held at 8 pm.
