Amy E. Hartman, 90, of Hanover, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Homewood at Plum Creek.

Born on September 7, 1922 in West Manheim Twp., she was a daughter of the late John and Sarah (Kleffel) Hahn; and wife of the late Claude H. “Hap” Hartman, who died August 3, 1998.

A 1940 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she graduated from Millersville State College in 1943 and received her Master’s degree in Education from Western Maryland College in 1954. She was employed by the Hanover Elementary schools until 1973.

A lifelong member of St. Paul’s (Dubs) United Church of Christ, she was a Deacon and Elder, former choir member, and Sunday School Superintendent. She was a member of the Golden Age Sunday School Class and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. A member of Lay Life and Work, she was also a member of the Gideon Grange #2010, PA State and National Grange. For many years, she gave Pennsylvania Dutch monologues.

She is survived by two sons, Henry Hartman and his wife Peggy; Harley Hartman and his wife Pamela, all of Hanover and four grandchildren: Heidi, Basil, Dale & Juliana.

The funeral will be held at 2 pm Saturday, January 5, 2013 at St. Paul’s (Dubs) United Church of Christ with The Rev. Larry M. Estepp officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s (Dubs) Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the viewing one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s (Dubs) Lutheran & Reformed Cemetery, 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
