Alan Jacob, 86, of Keymar, Maryland, beloved husband of Jane Rosenfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the Dove House in Westminster, Maryland.
Born on Friday, April 22, 1938 in Birkenhead, England, he was the son of the late Gilbert Rogers Jacob and Edith Wilmer Hughes Jacob. He served in the Royal Air Force from 1958 to 1961. Alan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Oceanography from the University of Liverpool in England and his Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Engineering from the former University of Bangor in Wales. He retired from Smith Industries in Germantown, Maryland where he was an engineer. Alan enjoyed being outdoors, cycling and walking, but also watching Western movies.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, he is survived by four daughters, Rebecca Jacob and her companion, Gary Woodward, Jodie Jacob and her husband, Russ Smith, Shuna Jacob and her husband, John Catterall, and Myfanwy Jacob Smith and her husband, Steve Smith; 12 grandchildren with two more expected soon; and a sister, Janet Holbrook.
As per his wishes, no service is planned.
