Anna Jane (Shearer) Gobrecht, 86, entered into God’s eternal care suddenly on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Hanover Hospital. Married for 62 years, she was the loving wife of Crosby Clayton Gobrecht who departed this life on September 7, 2008.
Born April 8, 1927 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Dale William Shearer and Anna Mary Bollinger Shearer. She graduated in 1945 from Eichelberger Senior High School.
Jane was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and taught Sunday School in the kindergarten department. She worked for many years at the Bon-Ton as a buyer, and also Wenger’s and Park Lane Hosiery. She also belonged to AARP and was a life member of the Hanover Hospital Auxiliary.
She loved to read, entertain, enjoyed shopping, and vacationing to Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, working in her yard, and keeping a pristine house. As an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils, Jane also enjoyed watching college basketball games.
Jane is survived by her devoted daughter Kobie Klunk and her husband Joseph of Hanover, a loving granddaughter Kelsey Simmons of Germantown, MD, a caring sister-in-law Phyllis Warner and husband William of Hanover, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a baby sister, Dorothy Minnie Shearer and a brother, Robert William Shearer.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Rest Haven Cemetery with The Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Per Jane’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 116 York Street, Hanover, PA.
