A. Christine Davis, 92, of Hanover, PA died Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at her home.
Born on June 15, 1930 in Watertown, MA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth Terico Oliveto. She was also preceded in death by her husband Richard M. Davis, who died in December 2017; a daughter, Kathryn Lee Davis; and twin brothers, Joseph and Francis Oliveto.
A 1950 graduate of LaSalle Junior College, Chris later received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont in 1952. She was an English major who played Cleopatra at the UV theater. Her beauty attracted a young man from Maine at a dance in Boston. Dick and Chris married and continued dancing together for 65 years. Dick's frequent work promotions resulted in 19 relocations of their family, so Chris developed a special talent for interior decorating each new home. While employed by Talbots in Towson, MD, for 12 years, she was often recognized as their top sales woman. Chris always enjoyed bright flowers and cooking her mother's Italian specialities: "Mangia!" She was a dedicated member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Hanover.
Survivors include three children, Keith Linwood Davis of Catonsville, MD, Leslie Davis Swallow and her husband, Jerry, of Tomales, CA, and Cynthia Lynne Gale and her husband, Glenn, of Bend, OR; two grandchildren, Isabelle Christine Gambee and Ian Davis Gale; and two great-grandchildren, Lucia Avery Gambee and Giovanni Gregory Gambee. The family is especially appreciative of the devoted care given by Alice Arthur during Chris' last years.
The family will receive friends at a viewing from 4 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday at the Chapel at Homewood at Plum Creek, 425 Westminster Avenue in Hanover with The Rev. Jeffery Shull officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Monday at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, 200 E. Padonia Road, Timonium, MD.
