Marvin D. Stine, 89, of York, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Gloria J. Dubs Stine whom he had been happily married to since December 11, 1948.

Born on Wednesday, April 27, 1927 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Horace and Irma Humberdt Stine. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry; two sisters, Dorothy and Louisa; and a step-grandson, Shawn.

A 1945 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Marvin was drafted into the U.S. Navy before he could attend his school commencement. During his time in the Navy, he served aboard the USS Houston. When he returned to the United States, he attended the York Collegiate Institute and Thompson’s Business School. He began his banking career in 1947 at PeoplesBank. He went on to work for York County from 1952 until 1954 as the Deputy Treasurer and at Sheppard-Myers Inc. from 1957 until 1960. He retired as Executive Vice President and Secretary Treasurer from Drovers and Mechanics Banks in 1989 after holding various positions beginning in 1960.

Marvin was a past member of the County Club of York, the Lafayette Club, the Red Lion Elks Club #1592, the American Legion Post #791, the Victory Athletic Club, the USS Houston Association, and the Pennsylvania Association of Community Banker’s Hall of Fame. He had also previously served as a board member for the York County Bankers Association, Mental Health America of York and Adams Counties, the Independent Community Bankers of America, the York-Adams Chapter of the American Institute of Banking, where he had also been a past President, and the York-Adams Chapter of the American Heart Association, where he had served as treasurer.

In addition to his wife of 68 years, survivors include a daughter, Randi McCullough and her husband, Gerry “Bud”; two grandsons, Ryan McCullough and his wife, Christina, and Chase McCullough; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Maeve McCullough; two step-great-grandsons, Connor and Zachary McCullough; a brother, Fred Stine and his wife, Pat; four nieces; and one nephew.

The funeral will be held at 11am on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway , Hanover with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military graveside rites being rendered by Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at a viewing one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Marvin’s caregivers; especially Krysta Villalta, Carol Carr, Kristin Hoke, Nina Gray, and Laurie Himes.
