Mark Steven “Steve” Phillips, Sr., 61, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at UPMC Hanover.
Born on Saturday, October 28, 1961 in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late James P. and Janet Kessel Phillips. A graduate of Littlestown High School, Steve was a route salesperson for Snyder’s of Hanover for more than 20 years. He was a hard worker, who looked forward to seeing and saying hello to his friends, co-workers and customers everyday. Steve enjoyed coaching baseball in the Hanover Recreation League for the teams his sons played on, was supportive in all their athletic endeavors, and always put them before his own needs. As a coach, he will always be remembered for the impact he had on his players and for his fairness in seeing that each player got a chance to play. He was a member of the Hanover Republican Club.
Survivors include his two sons, Mark Steven Phillips, Jr. of Spring Grove, Andrew James Phillips and his wife, Jamie, of Hanover; was a very proud grandfather to his granddaughters, Adalynn and Madalynn Phillips; a sister, Wendy Phillips of Spring Grove; a half-brother, Barry Lane and his wife, Sharon, of Baltimore; and his nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Gettysburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
