John F. Criswell, Jr., 90, of Hanover, died on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
Born on Sunday, November 4, 1928 in Seven Valleys, he was a son the late John F. and Edith C. Hoff Criswell. John retired in 1993 from the former Hanover General Hospital and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, having received two Purple Hearts. A life member of Eagle Fire Company #2, he served as a past Deputy Chief, Captain and Trustee. He was a member of the VFW Post #5265 in Spring Grove, Albert J. Lentz American Legion Post #202 in Gettysburg, Trinity United Church of Christ, New Oxford Social & Athletic Club and the Hanover Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #227.
Survivors include a step-son, Michael Hnatkowicz and his wife, Mary, of Hanover; step-grandchildren, Randy and Laura, Shannan and Christopher, and Paul and Lindsay Hnatkowicz; six step-great-grandchildren; and three nephews, Roger Criswell, Jr., Allen Criswell and Steven Criswell. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Leonard Criswell.
